Oh oh, I'm going to be tiiiirrreeeddd. I work at the store two days a week. I have a full-time job so by the end of the week I am pretty wiped out. I had not been at the store since last week. Tamara spent the week getting boxes and 'stuff' out of the storage spaces. Thank God for Javier; he has been busy moving boxes and tubs and loads of 'stuff' to the new location. When anyone comes into the store we feel compelled to say that we are preparing for the move. Just in case they are startled by the appearance of the store. When we say 'we're moving, there are few minutes of gasps and whys. We reassure everyone that the new place is five doors away and an opportunity that we absolutely could not pass up. Then there is a pause and a sigh of relief.

We are very happy to be moving. However, we are going to be a mess for a few weeks while we get there. In the meantime we will continue to add cool things, random finds and one-of-a-kinds to our 'sale section'. Some stuff is already reduced and will still be 30% off. Don't miss it.

So, it's back to the store tomorrow. The new place is being prepared for our arrival. The plan this weekend is that Remy a very cute construction guy, will be working on knocking out walls and getting us closer to our move. I'm so excited.

OMG IT'S REALLY HAPPENING

We are moving to our new space by the end of August. Our new address is: 1024 West Mission Street, South Pasadena; literally five doors west of where we are now.
We are moving to the space previously used by Time Warner cable. I mentioned in my previous post that you would not need to Google our new address. You just have to walk down the street a little. We have been joking that we will not have to get a moving truck but we will need dollies. I would like to find a maintenance truck; you know that little mini-truck that gardeners use. I have actually seen them at the Union Station in Downtown L.A. If you have an in on this, let us know.
Anyway... We are officially in MOVING MODE. What does that mean? We are organizing our thoughts, preparing the floor plan and having a sale. For the remainder of the time that we are at the current location we will be having a moving sale.

Big,exciting, super-fabulous announcement!!!

Drum roll please. Do I have your attention? Is anyone out there? Here it goes...

Zinnia is moving. Yes, we are moving from the current place next to Mike and Ann's. I can't tell you where we are moving to but I can say that you won't have to map quest or google map it to get there.

Our new location has tons of space. More like twice the space, room for an actual classroom, storage space, a bathroom and lots of character. It's an old building that at some point in time was a grocery store (so I heard) so it has a walk-in vault. I'd like to call it Paul's time-out room.

When are we moving? When can you see it? All in due time. Please do not stress. I promise you that we are not leaving South Pasadena and you can continue parking your car where you have in the past when you have visited the store. The move will be taking place through August and we hope to be ready in early September for a Grand Opening featuring a one man show of Joey's awesome paintings. Of course details will follow in up coming blogs and newsletters.

We will be having our first ever store wide sale so make sure you check-in so you can stock up on your favorite Zinnia stuff. For now, I think that this is about all the excitement I can handle in this heat.

Paper Packages

We have all been waiting for these... Zinnia's Paper Packages. Tamara and Joey spent a few hours last week putting together our ever-popular paper packages. Each package contains an assortment of paper, paper scraps and images that compliment each other by color or theme. They are great to have around for collage projects, card making or any other crafty thing you can think of. We have about 30 eight and a half by eleven and a few 12x12 at $6.99 and $7.49. We get a lot of request for these and we can never seem to have enough on-hand so come and get 'em. Here is a picture in case you do not know what they are.

Random

This sooo random that I feel weird posting but have to share. If you are like me... a book lover you'll appreciate it. The building where the Pasadena Circut City was located on Rosemead and Colorado is now a Crown Books clearance store. I went in thinking it would be lame but to my surprise it's not. It's huge, very organized, great prices and all new books. Seriously, a book lover's Disneyland. Hope you are local and can take advantage of this place.

We miss and love you!

Classes for July 2009

Friday July 3rd
Shrink Plastic Charms
with Paul
1:pm - 3:pm
$35.00
If you wrote off shrink plastic back in the days when Shrink plastic was only sold in pre-designed sheets, it is definitely time to take another look at this amazing medium. There are multiple shrink plastic producers, now, and sheets are available in clear, translucent, canvas white and black varieties. There are even sheets that are specially designed to be printed with an Ink Jet printer. Meanwhile, crafters have been pushing the boundaries of this fun plastic, discovering ways to transform the effect from childish to craftfastic. Fridays class is going to be a fun introduction to an old but still wonderful crafting medium.

Chunky Soldered Charm Pendant
with Tyn Atol
Friday July 10th
11:am till 3:pm
$65.

A new chunky charm class at Zinnia. This is a fun class because it will involve so many different mediums. We will be soldering, and doing collage, painting, and maybe even some stamping. These come out so different every time, and I think students will be pleased with their results.

Saturday July 11th
Triptych Book
with Kelly Kilmer
11:am - 3:pm
$70
Triptych book This class was a HUGE success at Artfest 2001 and across the U.S. It's one of my favorite book forms. I'm bringing it back and revising it-updating it! A very unique book that lends itself to a variety of different styles. Please bring favorite scraps of ephemera (old letters, journal pages, collaged tags, etc...) You will construct a three panel book from scratch that can be used as a journal, story album, photo album, memoribilia book and more! The stitch that holds the book together is easy and adds interest to the structure of the book. Learn unusual ways of incorporating favorite imagery and collage ephemera into the design of the book. Walk away with your own personal journal with your head spinning with ideas!

Friday July 17th
Vudu Angels Workshop
with Shari
1:pm - 3:pm
$55.
If you've ever been curious about Voodoo and Voodoo dolls this is the class for you. Join me for a fun afternoon where we will explore the world of Voodoo and make our own Voodoo dolls (or Vudu Angels as I like to call them). You will go home with a really great doll and some info to get you started on your journey into Voodoo.
Please note: Voodoo is a real religion and I am in no way a Voodoo aficionado. I will be providing you with an introduction and solid information on the subject. However, this class is intended for fun and entertainment purposes only. Use your power for good!

Faux Encasutic
