Paul's Popular Class This Weekend

Decoupage technique class this Saturday, March 31st ~ 11am to 2pm, $45

Paul has a wonderful way of charming and teaching at the same time. You will learn techniques in application, design and color composition. If you are interested please make sure to call the store (626) 441-2181 this week or better yet, go to our new website and sign-up using the 'Scheduled Classes tab.

Once you have signed up make sure you bring a small item that you will work on. Items such as stools, wood boxes, serving tray or any small treasure you want to make fabulous. Learn the techniques and you will want to decoupage every flat surface, or not ha ha.

Class Description: The Alchemy of Books – Make Your Own!
All it takes is cloth and board, thread and paper – and a little glue. Make your own book using the easy long stitch. You’ll complete the journal of your choice in this simple four-hour class. Class kit includes cover boards and spine, waxed linen thread, paper, pattern, instructions and extra supplies. You’ll create a 6 signature, hard cover book, with exposed sewing. It will open flat for writing or painting.

Supply list:
PVA (polyvinyl adhesive) – Zinnia, Dick Blick, Paper Source, Swains
Book Cloth – Dick Blick, Paper Source, Swains
Sharp craft knife – Home Depot or craft store
Ruler – metal with cork backing is best, but any will do
Awl – Dick Blick, Paper Source, Swains
Bone Folder – Dick Blick, Paper Source, Swains
Bookbinding Sewing Needles – Dick Blick, Paper Source, Swains
Pencil and Pen
Scissors
Cutting Mat, 12 x 12 or larger if possible; otherwise we will share

Optional: buttons, beads, ribbons and “stuff” to tie onto the spine

Inexpensive supplies for bookbinding can be found at the stores mentioned, under the brand name Lineco. The awl, bone folder, needles and different colors of book cloth are all this brand. Don’t buy the thread from them; you won’t be happy. I’m bringing a variety of beautiful colors of waxed linen thread for you to use.

Stayed tuned for more information... moving forward Joey and Javier will handling the class/workshops at Zinnia. Tamara is relinquishing her duties as dooer of everything. All upcoming classes and workshops will be scheduled and followed -up by Joey and Javier, The JayJays. All instructors/teachers will go through them to schedule classes, class price, size and needs.
