It's that time of the year again; where we get ready to send the kids back to school, put away the camping gear and set up HALLOWEEN!

At Zinnia we are getting our goodies out for all to see. Dan our window guy stopped by on Friday to add his touch and Alley sat back to make sure that there are no streaks. After all the window is Alley's stage.

We are convinced that Alley knows when her picture is being taken.
She got up on this display charming the customers and making us all laugh.

Isn't she just beautiful? She is also doing her part to make sure that our Halloween displays are like no other.

These last few picture are a small sample of what we have for all to see.
Make sure you don't miss out. We still have a few paper packages left...
these packages are a must-have for anyone who crafts and has fun
with this great time of the year.

I will make sure to add some more pictures for those
of you who are not able to get to the store.

A bridal shower!

I had the pleasure recently to do a class that was a bridal shower. 12 people making art for the bride and groom- wow. I love this. I want this! The plan was that each person would work on a 6x6 canvas and then they could all be hung together as one piece, or if the couple wanted, split them up to hang them. Endless possibilities really. To keep the work somewhat cohesive, they each worked with the circle shape. A circle represents unity, eternity, completeness, ring... see the theme here??
Well, this group started out timid, but once gluing began there was no stopping them!!

Sorry this picture is blurry, but I had to show you. The Mother of the Bride made this one and the fish represent future grandchildren!! Her daughter immediately began counting fish~ and then screamed!
This is the finished piece- Great project don't you think??

We are very excited to see the artwork for the Cirque De Bizarre show. I was not able to uncover my dark side, so no submission from me. It's all good. The show opens on October 1st. Mark your calendars and make plans to be here. We are busy (by "we" I mean Tamara) getting the store ready and confirming the details. How she does it all is overwhelming to just think about.
If you are a Halloween crafter you definitely need to make a trip to the store ASAP. We have Halloween themed Paper Packs for sale at the store $7.99. Our paper packs are popular, don't miss out.

I am not at Zinnia this weekend... I am going to miss Kari's Mandala class. If you haven't seen her Mandala art work you are missing out. I don't know if the class is full or not (on a mini-vacation) but I know it will happen again soon. Call the store if you need more information about this weekend's classes. 626.831.6808

Yeah the flea market was fun! I met up with my friend Sam for breakfast then headed out to the Rose Bowl. He had never gone so he was excited to finally be there to find his own treasures. He was looking for a desk so we stopped and checked out tons of different styles and sized. He lucked out because we found an old bankers desk from Wells Fargo, from back-in-the-day for $145 absolute deal. I was looking for my Cirque De Bizarre 'thing' and I found it. I also found a replacement for a butter dish that my cat Miko broke when I scared her when I caught her on the counter. I collect vintage Franciscan pottery in a specific style and color, I didn't expect or even look for a replacement so when I found one in great condition for $8, it made me very happy. Aside from our finds I got a super cool 'farmer's tan'.

In closing... another reminder that you only have 2 weeks to submit your Cirque De Bizarre artwork, deadline is August 20th. The store website has all the information: www.zinnia.biz

I have not started on my submission for the Cirque De Bizarre show in October. Yikes. I am off to the Rose Bowl Flea Markets tomorrow. I have an idea now I just need to find a few treasures that I am sure to find. If you have never been and you live in the area this flea market is pretty cool. It's gigantic. Tons of vendors, old stuff and some new and with lots of parking. It happens the second Sunday of the month. Here is the link, check it out. http://rgcshows.com/

If you haven't started yours remember that the due date is August 22nd.
