May was an exciting month at Zinnia. We participated in the South Pasadena Eclectic Music and Art Walk by featuring Cuddly Creatures by local artists. The evening was quite busy and cool to see every one oooh and aaah at the giant sock creatures in the window and the fantastic giant squid posed for all to see.
We also made big changes to the lay out of the store. We re-thought the use of the gallery and moved fabric and paper packages and scraps into the space. Below is a picture of some of the fabric and fiber. I owe you a picture of the paper section. There are project ideas hanging from the beams to inspire the crafter in all.
We also acquired a wonderful supply of tiny every things like furniture, pots and pans, food and wall paper samples, so much really that you have to see it. Although we have sold a lot of it there is still a nice selection for you to choose from for you to use in assemblage projects of all sizes.
All the cards were also relocated to the front of the store where we were able to almost double the space and double our inventory.
The craft supply section was moved towards the back of the store adjacent to the studio for easy access and a better space to feature some of our best sellers and new arrivals, like new color from Stickles. My favorite is a bright and happy pink called, Glam Pink.
And probabaly my favorite... we created better lighting in the studio and expaned out work space for added comfort to all who take classes. If you've been to the store you will notice that the wood divider is gone and just moving that added the amount space it did.
All these changes were completed by the time Jenny Doh stopped by for the book signing on May 28th. We have addtional signed copies availabe if you were unable to make it. We hope to host another book signing in the near future perhaps with one of the women featured in the book. The picture below is Tam, Jenny Doh and Sonya Nimri who is featured in the book.
Needles-to-say we have been quite busy. Remember if you give a mouse a cookie (at Zinnia) it's going to want to move stuff around. Ha ha.
