Hey there friends I hope you are enjoying my favorite time of the year... Summer. AAhh Summer. So Cal had a heat wave for a few days and wow it was hot. I was super happy to have to work on those days because my office has excellent air conditioning.
At the store we are excited about our call to artists for the "Cirque De Bizarre". Reminder that any submissions must be received by August 22nd. The show is October 2nd. For details about art submissions are on the website: www.zinnia.biz
Basically, we want a show to showcase artwork inspired by the circus however not the cute happy happy joy joy side of the circus. I know I will have to dig deep to come up with my submission for this show that is sure to be dark and twisted.

One of our favorite Zinnia friends B.J. took one of Paul's Decoupage classes and was inspired to keep going. She said she found this cool candlestick thing at a thrift store (I think that she said thrift store) and added her touch. The picture of the top view did not photograph well so we are left to our imaginations. I really like her choice of color and how she was thoughtful when positioning her images just right. Yeah, another crafter unleashed.

Okay I have been under the weather and am still trying to recover so I have been a bit on- delay due to being medicated. I just about gave myself whiplash doing a double and triple take. I was sitting at the table behind the register at the store and saw this guy out of the corner of my eye. I grabbed my phone to get a shot but he caught me... he laughed and then posed. I do not know why this guy was walking around in this strange get-up; I am going to guess it has something to do with the World Cup or a serious mental health issue.

The Anonymous Atrist Is...

A few of our friends stopped by the store this past weekend (Judy Delgado) and admired the new artwork in the gallery. Three pieces in particular have received quite a bit of attention all painted by an anonymous local artist. Well, I have been given the go-ahead and let the cat of out the bag. The new artwork are only three of many is that of the one and only... Tamara Tolkin. Yes, she has been quite shy about it and after I annoyed her enough to let me tell people who had painted the new art. With no further delay... here are pictures of the three aforementioned masterpieces. Stop by the store soon before they are gone.

Saturday, June 5^th Zinnia So Pasadena Addicted to Tape! 11 to 3 p.m.

Addicted to tape!

Love collage? Have you been caught buying up rolls of tape and you’re not sure of everything that you can do with them? In a bit of a sticky situation? Looking for some new ideas of what you can do with one of the hottest art supplies around? Look no further! In this class we will explore a myriad of techniques, tips, tricks and ideas that you can do with decorative tape. Learn how to layer fun and colorful backgrounds using what some call stickers, but what most call tape! We will explore masking tape (not the old stuff, but the fun colorful stuff available in many different designs and colors), decorative tape, and more! WAIT! It's not just a tape class, it's also a collage class! Learn a myriad of composition and design techniques as you work! Walk out of class with your head spinning with ideas, and a smile on your face.

Optional-You can bring your journal to class to work in, or the teacher will be supplying paper for you to work on.

Supply list: Scissors, small selection of favorite collage ephemera, bone folder, cork back metal ruler, roll of waxed paper, roll of paper towels, permanent black inkpad, container to hold water, 1" brush to glue (I like chip or bristle brushes)
