Lovely weekend with Jesse at Zinnia. No I didn't take the class. Tamara wouldn't give me the time-off and made me work. Waaah. I'm kidding. This was definitely Joey's thing and it was cool to see him smile from the inside out. Tamara did it again and magically found a spot that was great for the class at the last minute. Yes, it did look like a great place to make a zombie movie. Anyway... I had the pleasure to attend a dinner at Paul and Joey's for Jesse on Friday. Paul really out did himself and made a lovely vegetarian dinner. It was nice to sit around, eat delicious food and chat with Jesse. I got his self described Tarantino style of storytelling, I was captivated. I had said, (to myself) self, you are only staying until 7:30pm so I can rest up for Saturday. I ended staying until almost 10pm and was inspired to create something. Jesse shared a few details that kind of helped make a full circle around the stories I've heard of Carol Parks and what a wonderful and colorful person she was and how she meant so much to so many. Thanks Jesse for your candid conversation; Shari, Joey, Paul, Tamara and I sat around and asked you a million questions. No lie... he is originally from New Jersey, Tamara asked him if he missed Whitney. He didn't know who that was and it cracked me up. Under my breath I asked him if he knew who Snooki is; thank God he didn't hear me. I giggled.

Okay friends, Zinnia can take a deep breath. It seems as if we have been running around since before Halloween and we have barely stopped. Now it's time to get classes scheduled and start preparing for Spring.

New Website

I am very excited to announce that our new website is finally up and running. It took a while but it looks like it was worth it. One of our favorites changes is that you can now sign up for a class via the website. I haven't a chance to fiddle with it much since it has only been up since last night. Take a look and tell us what you think.
Very important! in order to access the new website you have to type www.zinnia.biz on your address bar. Even though you might have added the site to your favorites or bookmarked it in the past you have to type it in and save us again once you are on the site. Using the your favorites or bookmarks to access us will probably not link you.

So now you know...Tell us what you think.

Time where are you going?

It doesn't help that there will only be 29 days in the month when time seems to move faster every day. I am so excited to have Monday off. Happy Presidents Day!! I feel like I am constantly going. I make lists in my head of things I am going to do as soon as I can. Although I am fairly organized and manage my time well; with only one day off a week I am pretty stingy with my time on Sundays. I was planning to go to the Long Beach Flea Market, rain or shine. Unfortunately my flea market buddy Sam couldn't make it. I had planned on fixing up my porch. I wanted to find a rusty thing or two to decorate the porch and buy some plants to just make it a happy entry if even just for me. When the flea market fell through I thought I'd get to a farmer's market to buy some plants but alas I didn't do that either. I spent most the day creating more art. I have been on a kick since October and it's been non-stop. The Petit Valentin last week wiped me out; in a good way. My stuff sold and was a happy camper. I worked on a few pieces of my nail art in the morning, in the afternoon I sat down and caught up with American Idol, yeah for DVR. While watching a few hours of that I made some sock kittens.
Tomorrow I will probably stay home and create more art. I usually work on a few pieces at one time while one thing is drying I move on to something else.
Thanks again for the great turn out to all the artists that participated in the Petit Valentin. I want to give a big shout-out to an artist I got a chance to meet on Saturday. Esther Orloff, she submitted six pieces for the show and a few sold almost right away. She was super cool. Check out her blog where she posted about the art show and her excitement about the experience and pictures of her work. Esther, it was nice meeting you and hope to see more of your art soon. Keep us posted so we can help spread the word. Esther's contact info: www.emakesart.blogspot.com

Okay friends, until next time, live in COLOR!

Thanks to all that stopped by for the Art Crawl

The Art Crawl on Saturday was very well attended. I never got a chance to wander out into the town to check out all the happenings. The store was packed and everyone seemed to be in great spirits. Joey and I were behind the counter most of the evening because artwork was flying off the walls. It was so cool to see so much excitement about the exhibit. The response to the art was amazing . We decided that instead of turning anyone away we decided keep every piece. We are selling art off the wall and still have more to display. The artwork will remain up until the end of the month and will advise you when you can stop by for any art left and the money for those sold.
I hope all of you that attended enjoyed the event. If you stopped by, tell us about your experience of the event in general. I would love to be able to give the Art Council and the Chamber of Commerce feedback both compliments and suggestions; because we were all so busy we did not get out to check out how everyone else were doing.

Wow! The overwhelming response we had from artists from all over is amazing. We received 253 pieces from 51 different artist. We will not be displaying all the artwork on Saturday due to the limited space. Since you will be able to pay and take your new art starting on Saturday (2/11) we will be able to add artwork as the spaces open up.
If you haven't already, make plans to make a night out of the South Pasadena Art Crawl. These events have become more and more popular every year. Remember that the Metro Gold Line has a stop at Mission and Meridian in South Pasadena. There will be food trucks and of course a focus on art in the area. Come enjoy food trucks or dinner at one of the yummy restaurants. My choice would be Mike and Anne's. For more information and details about the event visit: www.southpasadena.net
I hope to see you on Saturday. Aside from the art exhibit we will have one-of-a-kind handmade treasures for your valentine.
